Lekan Adegunde: Chairmanship Aspirant -By Ayo Olanipekun

A leading politabeg1ician and chairmanship candidate in Surulere, Mr Lekan Adegunde, has pledged to give credible leadership and service to the people of the constituency if given the chance to become the Local Government Chairman in the forthcoming election.
Born Olalekan Ayodeji Abegunde on 20 April 1971, he attended St FInbarr’s College, Akoka and later studied at Kwara State Polytechnic, from where he graduated with a BA in Business Administration.

Speaking about his plans, he pointed out the lack of basic facilities in primary schools. He also spoke about road maintenance, primary health care, and sports as a means of youth empowerment. Asked how he intended to impact on all these areas, he said that he would approach corporate organizations within the local government area.abeg2

He also pledged to hold Town Hall meetings with all stakeholders.

An associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, Abegunde first cut his political teeth when he contested for a councillorship post in 1997 under the defunct Democratic Party of Nigeria. He later became ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2003 before crossing over to the Action Congress of Nigeria.

Abegunde believes that he has the focus and drive to serve as chairman of Surulere Local Government and looks forward to contesting the election next February.
